If your porch has started sinking, settling near the house, creating uneven sections, or holding water after it rains, the problem usually does not fix itself. In many cases, it slowly becomes worse over time.
At HowellSlabJacking, we have been helping property owners Lift Settled Concrete since 1989. We have Specialized in SlabJacking for over 35 years, helping homeowners across Indianapolis and Central Indiana restore settled porches without the cost and mess of tearing out and replacing concrete.
Many newer companies may call it “concrete leveling,” but most of the time you do not actually want concrete perfectly level. Porches are often built with slight pitch to help water drain properly away from the home. The goal is usually to lift the porch back toward its original grade while maintaining proper drainage.
WE LIFT SETTLED CONCRETE.

FAMILY TRADE SINCE 1989
Porches can settle for several reasons. The concrete itself usually is not the problem. The issue is often what is happening beneath the slab.
Common causes include:
When support beneath the porch changes, the slab can begin moving and settling.
If ignored, the problem often becomes worse over time.
You may notice:
Many property owners wait until the problem becomes severe, but smaller problems are often easier and less expensive to address.
If your porch is settling, there is a good chance other concrete around your property may also be moving. We also help property owners restore driveways, garage floors, walkways & sidewalks, steps, patios, pool decks, and concrete slabs. Whether you are dealing with trip hazards, water pooling, or uneven concrete sections, our Traditional SlabJacking process helps restore settled concrete without the cost and mess of replacement.

pbkentTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had Howell Concrete lifters lift a few sections of our driveway and sidewalk that had settled over time. The driveway had settled so much that it was approximately 4" lower than the garage floor and a major tripping hazard. I had another local company do an estimate prior to getting one from Howell and the price was nearly three times higher than Howell. They scheduled the job quickly and did an excellent job! They were friendly, efficient, and cleaned up the site very well. I recently contacted them again after approximately three - four years because the driveway had settled slightly again where it met the garage floor and they came out and re-lifted the same area plus another part of the driveway never lifted before and all for no charge! I understand that there is normally a charge after a certain amount of time but they waved the fee. You don't find this kind of customer service these days! Thank you David & Crew! Scott ChristnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The folks at Howell Concrete Lifters exceeded my hopes and expectations. I was faced with the serious possibility of having to jack hammer concrete stairs and driveway. Settling had made my front stoop over three inches different at the top step from the height of our other stairs and going into our garage was a very bumpy rider. It looked terrible. After looking at reviews I gave them a call, received a visit, an honest discussion of what to expect and an estimate. Within 10 days of accepting they were on site, on time, and very efficient. My front stoop look and does its job so much better and my driveway is flat. Great pricing with huge savings over concrete replacement. I recommend them really enjoyed working with them. They saved me thousands of dollars. Jane TurleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great job leveling multiple slabs of our driveway. Michael GriffinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very fair price most companies charge double for this kind of work! Highly recommend if your looking for raising your drive or any concrete that has sunk over the years. J KochTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent work! Fast, efficient and professional. I recommend highly!! April FitchTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Howell’s did an amazing job lifting my sidewalk and driveway. I appreciate how personable Dave was by walking me through the process and personally overseeing the job to completion. They went above and beyond. I will definitely recommend them to all my friends! John Hardy Chandler PillsburyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our front porch had settled about 2 inches Isaiah quoted us an amazing price and quick service schedule. He was here I 4 days from the quote and in and out in less then an hour. Porch looks like new again.
Traditional SlabJacking has been a tried and proven method for lifting settled concrete for decades.
At HowellSlabJacking, experience matters. The material itself is only one part of the process. Knowing where to place the holes and how much material to pump beneath the slab is where decades of experience become important.
We inspect the porch and identify areas that have lost support beneath the slab. Small access holes are drilled in strategic locations.
Material is pumped beneath the porch under pressure to fill voids and carefully lift the slab.
The slab is brought back toward its proper position while maintaining drainage and matching surrounding sections as closely as possible.
Most residential jobs can often be completed in less than a day.
Traditional SlabJacking helps property owners restore settled concrete without the cost, mess, and disruption of replacement.
Benefits include:
We have helped property owners Lift Settled Concrete for over 35 years using tried and proven SlabJacking methods.
Choosing the right SlabJacker is about more than simply pumping material under concrete. Experience matters. Knowing where to place the holes, how the material should spread, and how to restore the slab while maintaining proper drainage comes from years in the field.
Property owners choose HowellSlabJacking because:
Many companies have come and gone over the years. Some are here for a few years and disappear. We are proud to still be serving homeowners and businesses after more than three decades of Specialized SlabJacking experience.
We are still here. Still Lifting Settled Concrete.
Porches commonly settle because the soil beneath them changes over time. Water erosion, poor compaction, and natural settling can create empty spaces beneath the slab. Once support underneath changes, sections may begin separating from the home. You can also see similar issues with steps and concrete slabs.
Yes. Porches are typically designed with slope so water moves away from the home. When sections settle unevenly, water can begin draining in the wrong direction and collect near the foundation. Restoring proper position often helps improve drainage around the structure.
Many property owners assume replacement is the only option, but in many situations Traditional SlabJacking can restore existing concrete without demolition and replacement costs. We have lifted tens of thousands of slabs over the past several decades using tried and proven methods.
Every project is different because access, settlement amount, location, and voids beneath the slab all affect cost. Most residential SlabJacking jobs generally run between $600–$1,900, although larger projects can be more.
Nothing is completely permanent. If water erosion and other outside conditions continue beneath the slab, movement can happen again. However, over the last 35+ years we have lifted tens of thousands of slabs that have remained stable for many years.
Yes, many settled porches already have cracks when we arrive. Like the old contractor saying goes: "Concrete is guaranteed to do two things, get hard & crack." The goal is generally restoring the slab toward its original position and reducing separation where possible.
We frequently help homeowners restore patios, pool decks, garage floors, and walkways & sidewalks when those surfaces begin settling.
