Concrete Leveling in Central Illinois & Indiana

Driveway SlabJacking in Indianapolis, IN

Driveway SlabJacking Company Indiana

If your driveway has started sinking, pulling away from the garage, creating trip hazards, or holding water after it rains, the problem usually does not fix itself. In most cases, it slowly gets worse over time.

At HowellSlabJacking, we have been helping property owners Lift Settled Concrete since 1989. We have Specialized in SlabJacking for over 35 years, helping homeowners across Indianapolis and Central Indiana restore settled driveways without the cost and mess of tearing out and replacing concrete.

Many newer companies may call it “concrete leveling,” but most of the time you do not actually want concrete perfectly level. Driveways are typically designed with pitch to move water away from the home and garage. The goal is to lift the concrete back toward its original grade while maintaining proper drainage.

Why Driveways Sink

Driveways can settle for many reasons. The concrete itself usually is not the problem. The issue is often what is happening underneath the slab.

Common causes include:

  • Soil settling beneath the driveway
  • Poor compaction during construction
  • Water erosion washing away support material
  • Downspouts draining near concrete
  • Freeze and thaw cycles
  • Rodent activity creating voids
  • New construction settling over time

When the support under the driveway changes, the concrete loses its support and starts sinking.

If ignored, the problem often becomes worse over time.

Signs Your Driveway May Need SlabJacking

You may notice:

  • Driveway sections sinking near the garage
  • Water pooling after rain
  • One slab sitting lower than another
  • Trip hazards
  • Cracks becoming wider
  • Gaps appearing under concrete
  • Concrete pulling away from the garage floor
  • Uneven surfaces causing drainage problems

Many property owners wait until the issue becomes severe, but smaller problems are usually easier and less expensive to address.

If your driveway is sinking, there is a good chance other concrete around your property may also be settling. We also help property owners lift garage floors, walkways & sidewalks, steps, patios, porches, pool decks, and concrete slabs. Whether you are dealing with trip hazards, water pooling, or uneven concrete sections, our Traditional SlabJacking process helps restore settled concrete without the cost and mess of replacement.

    Our Fix: Traditional Driveway SlabJacking

Traditional SlabJacking has been a tried and proven method for lifting settled concrete for decades.

At HowellSlabJacking, experience matters. The material itself is only one part of the process. Knowing where to place the holes and how much material to pump beneath the slab is where decades of experience become important.

    Step 1: Inspect & Drill

We inspect the driveway and identify areas that have lost support beneath the slab. Small access holes are drilled in strategic locations.

Step 2: Pump Material Beneath The Slab

Material is pumped beneath the driveway under pressure to fill voids and carefully lift the slab.

Step 3: Lift, Support & Finish

The slab is brought back toward its proper position while maintaining drainage and matching surrounding sections as closely as possible.

Most residential jobs can often be completed in less than a day.

    Driveway SlabJacking FAQs

We use the more accurate term: Concrete Lifting. Driveways are usually designed with pitch for drainage, so the goal is not always perfectly level concrete. The goal is usually restoring the slab toward its original position while maintaining proper water flow.

Every driveway is different. Factors such as access, location, voids, and the amount of settlement affect pricing. Most residential SlabJacking jobs generally run between $600–$1,900, although larger jobs can be more.

Not necessarily. We have lifted tens of thousands of slabs over the past 35+ years that someone else originally poured. SlabJacking often costs significantly less and avoids the mess of tearing out and replacing concrete.

Nothing is permanent. However, when erosion is controlled and proper support exists beneath the slab, many lifted slabs remain stable for many years.

In most cases, your driveway is ready to use again shortly after the work is completed. This makes it a convenient option for homeowners who don’t want to deal with long wait times or major disruption.

We drill small, dime-sized access holes that are patched once the lifting is complete. The patches are minimal and blend in with the surrounding concrete, making them far less noticeable than tearing out and replacing the slab.

Most homeowners barely notice them—and they’re a small tradeoff for avoiding a full demolition, major mess, and mismatched new concrete.

Concrete leveling addresses the root problem by restoring support underneath the slab. While no solution can stop all future ground movement, properly stabilizing the base helps provide long-term results and prevents the issue from continuing to worsen.

It’s common for multiple areas to be affected by the same soil conditions. We can also help with garage floor levelingwalkway and sidewalk leveling, and patio leveling. Addressing these areas together can improve overall stability and appearance.

Yes—we do ask that you’re present, and it’s actually one of the most valuable parts of the process. This gives us a chance to walk the concrete with you, point out exactly what’s causing the issue, and explain the best fix in plain terms.

You’ll get honest recommendations, clear answers to your questions, and a better understanding of what to expect—so you can make a confident decision without any guesswork.
