If you have settled concrete around your home or business, you have probably heard a lot of different terms lately. SlabJacking. Poly Foam Lifting. PolyJacking. Foam Injection. Concrete Leveling. MudJacking.
It can get confusing fast.
At HowellSlabJacking, we have Specialized in Traditional SlabJacking Since 1989. We have watched different materials and methods come and go over the last 3.5 Decades. Today, many newer contractors heavily promote Poly Foam Lifting because it is newer and aggressively marketed.
The truth is, BOTH Traditional SlabJacking and Poly Foam Lifting can work well when done properly.
The most important factor is not simply the material being used. The most important factor is the EXPERIENCE of the contractor doing the work.
“There is no substitute for real world experience!”
Traditional SlabJacking is a tried and proven method for Lifting Settled Concrete.
The process works by pumping dense support material underneath the settled slab under pressure. As the voids are filled, the slab is carefully lifted back toward its original position.
At HowellSlabJacking, we have lifted tens of thousands of slabs over the last 35+ years using Traditional SlabJacking methods.
Traditional SlabJacking is commonly used on:
Traditional SlabJacking has been around for many Decades because it WORKS.
Poly Foam Lifting, often called PolySlabJacking, uses expanding polyurethane foam injected beneath the slab.
As the foam expands, it lifts the settled concrete.
Polyurethane systems have become much more popular over the last several years, especially among newer companies entering the industry.
One advantage of Poly Foam Lifting is that the injection holes are usually slightly smaller than Traditional SlabJacking holes.
Polyurethane material is also lightweight and can work very well in certain applications.
One thing many property owners do not realize is this:
The most important part of ANY concrete lifting job is NOT just the material itself.
The real skill is:
That comes from YEARS of real field experience.
A contractor can use excellent material and still perform poor work if they lack experience.
An experienced SlabJacker understands:
That experience matters far more than flashy marketing terms.
Many newer companies heavily focus on smaller injection holes when promoting Poly Foam Lifting.
Yes, polyurethane typically uses slightly smaller holes.
But smaller holes alone do not guarantee:
The real goal is properly supporting the slab underneath.
At HowellSlabJacking, we focus on restoring support beneath the concrete while carefully lifting the slab back toward proper grade and drainage.
SlabJacking is a specialized trade.
It is not something that is mastered after a short certification course or a few months in business.
We have Specialized in SlabJacking Since 1989.
That means:
Over the years we have seen:
But one thing has never changed:
There is no substitute for real world experience.
Some newer companies may try to make Traditional SlabJacking sound outdated.
The truth is:
Traditional SlabJacking is still a highly effective and proven method for Lifting Settled Concrete.
In fact, many slabs we lifted Decades ago are STILL holding today.
That proven long-term track record matters.
Traditional SlabJacking continues to be an excellent solution for:
Every job is different.
Some situations may benefit from polyurethane foam.
Other situations may be better suited for Traditional SlabJacking.
The most important thing is hiring a contractor with REAL experience evaluating settlement problems and understanding how concrete behaves.
At HowellSlabJacking, we focus on:
